5 Star Security Services protects supportive housing, public venues, commercial properties, government agencies and community organizations across Nova Scotia. We're hiring casual Security Officers in Dartmouth and Halifax who are dependable, customer-focused and calm under pressure.

$17.50 – $18.00 / hour

Responsibilities
- Conduct interior and exterior patrols
- Monitor and control access to facilities and properties
- Respond to incidents, emergencies and security concerns
- Complete incident reports, daily activity reports and notes
- Monitor CCTV and security systems
- Provide customer service to tenants, visitors and clients
- De-escalate conflicts and disruptive situations professionally
- Enforce site rules, post orders and procedures
- Liaise with emergency services, management and community partners when required
- Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times
Requirements
Required
- Résumé with your application
- Minimum 1 year in security, safety, law enforcement, military, corrections, healthcare security or a related field
- Strong spoken and written English
- Able to pass a Criminal Record Check and meet Nova Scotia Private Guard Licence requirements
- Legally entitled to work in Canada (citizen, permanent resident, or valid work or study permit)
- Available for casual shifts, including evenings, overnights and weekends

Certifications (or willing to obtain before licensing)
- Basic Security Training
- First Aid, CPR and AED
- Crisis Intervention and De-escalation
- Report Writing and Note Taking
- Fire Safety

Assets
- Use of Force certification
- Mental Health First Aid
- Security-related diploma or post-secondary education
- Experience in supportive housing, shelters, healthcare or public-facing roles

Pay and growth
- $17.50/hour during the three-month probation, $18.00/hour after
- Licence application fee paid by the company
- Company-paid training and professional development

Must Have
